I’ve spent my entire working life — over 25 years in Primary Education — supporting children, families, and schools. For 16 years, I taught across the full primary range, and for the last 8 years I have worked as a Primary SENCo, supporting the full range of SEND and helping children access the education they deserve.

Across every role, something became increasingly clear. Our education system is powered by passionate people — but built on limited resources. Teachers do their very best, yet the pressure to “raise standards” grows every year while funding, staffing and time do not.It often feels like trying to power a cruise liner with a dinghy engine: determined, hard-working, and constantly paddling… but ultimately under-resourced.

 

The Problem

While schools remain dedicated, one truth has become impossible to ignore: Most children need learning support beyond what the school day can provide. Not because teachers don’t care — but because the system is stretched far beyond what it was designed for.

Traditionally the solution has been tutoring. But tutoring is expensive — and when only some families can afford it, education becomes elitist by accident.
